Holistic Leadership Program

Holistic Leadership Program

What Is It?

The Holistic Leadership Program (HLP) is a specially designed, awareness-based, long-term leadership development program that helps managers, emerging leaders, and employees discover and realize their leadership potential.

  • Holistic, comprehensive, and integrated
  • Experience-based: participants learn by doing, not simply by listening
  • Competency-focused, building knowledge, skills, and experience
  • Practical and grounded in reality
  • Directly relevant to work and business
  • Provides practical tools for work and life
  • Built on a strong theoretical foundation
  • Delivered by an experienced team of academics and practitioners

What Is It Not?

HLP was developed as an alternative to superficial leadership programs that lack depth and fail to create lasting impact. It is not:

  • Based on a conventional instructor–learner model
  • Focused only on theory and information while treating competency development and behavioural change as secondary
  • Limited to selected topics while leaving important development areas untouched
  • An eclectic collection of disconnected sessions delivered by different providers without an integrated framework

How Was It Developed?

The program was developed at Eflatun under the leadership of Dr. Hüseyin Çırpan by an eight-person team of experienced academics, facilitators, consultants, coaches, and senior executives. Building on their combined expertise, the team shaped the program through a full year of research and development. HLP has continued to evolve since its first delivery in 2009.

The program has been delivered in banking, aviation, energy, tourism, logistics, textiles, retail, iron and steel, and education. By May 2019, nearly 2,500 managers had completed it.

Who Is It For?

Based on the principle that leadership begins with leading oneself and is fundamentally about creating impact, the program is relevant to everyone. In practice, it is most often delivered to the following groups:

  • HLP – Board (Boards of Directors and Executive Committees)
  • HLP – Executive (C-Suite and Senior Executives)
  • HLP – Manager (Middle Managers)
  • HLP – First Level (First-Line Managers)
  • HLP – Talent (Emerging and Newly Appointed Managers)

The scope, design, content, and methods are adapted for each level and can be further tailored to the organization’s own leadership structure.

How Is the Program Structured and Delivered?

The program consists of five modules delivered in a recommended sequence, with an ideal total duration of 12 training days. Complementary development activities extend the journey over time so that learning is translated into practice and behaviour.

The complete program can be spread across a development journey lasting up to one year. Individual modules may also be delivered independently in line with organizational capability needs. Content and delivery are tailored to the specific needs of the organization and participants.

PROGRAM MODULES

MODULE 1

Leadership Dynamics and Discovering Individual Potential

Drawing on contemporary leadership and management theory and the practical challenges managers face, this module explores the leadership profile and approach required in today’s business world. Beginning with the principle “Know Yourself First,” participants use the Holistic Leadership Inventory to explore their dominant leadership styles and personal leadership manifestos.

Key Topics:

  • The Concept of Leadership
  • Leadership Dilemmas in Business
  • Holistic Leadership Model
  • Purpose and Values in Leadership
  • Principle-Centred Leadership
  • Authentic Leadership

MODULE 2

Leading Systems and Processes

In complex organizations, using resources efficiently, obtaining reliable information, and making sound decisions are essential. Understanding how business functions connect and improving operational effectiveness also depend on accurate analysis. This module therefore focuses on gathering the right information, identifying root causes, and thinking clearly.

Key Topics:

  • Analytical and Systematic Thinking
  • Information-Gathering and Analysis Methods
  • Planning and Process Management
  • Organization and Control Methods
  • Decision-Making Techniques

MODULE 3

Leading the Future and Transformation

We all know the reality: environmental conditions are changing, uncertain, complex, and ambiguous (VUCA). In such an environment, leaders must look where everyone else is looking yet see something different—and remain flexible. They must step outside the structures they inhabit, understand how the world is evolving, imagine the future, and lead organizational transformation around that vision.

Key Topics:

  • Systems Thinking
  • Seeing the Big Picture
  • Strategic Management
  • Innovation and Creativity
  • Thinking Outside the Box

MODULE 4

Leading Relationships and Teams

Relationships in an organization are as vital as the connections among organs in the human body. Ultimately, a leader’s effectiveness is defined by the network of relationships they build and develop. This module approaches relationships from a broader perspective, offering a framework that serves not only workplace relationships but all the relationships a leader must navigate.

Key Topics:

  • Relationship Dynamics
  • Team Building and Development
  • Effective Communication and Influence
  • A Coaching Approach to Management
  • Developing Direct Reports

MODULE 5

Leading Execution and Performance

This module begins where words end. Knowing is not enough—we must apply; wanting is not enough—we must act. Determination, perseverance, resilience, thoughtful risk-taking, and courage are essential. Our motto: “Raise the sails—let’s go!”

Key Topics:

  • Overcoming Inertia
  • Results and Solution Orientation
  • Building Discipline
  • Motivating Others
  • Performance Development
What Participants Say

I had never imagined that a program could be this comprehensive or take me this deep. Every module introduced me to a different “Pınar,” and after each one I added something new to myself. I believe this is a development program everyone should experience. I leave in February 2013 as a different Pınar from the one who arrived in December 2011.

“Only a program of this quality could also be so enjoyable. These were days I will remember for the rest of my life.”

Önder Erdem

It was a rare and deeply enjoyable learning experience, filled with laughter, emotion, humour, and memories I will never forget. The program shifted some long-set foundations in my life. I completed it knowing that change takes time and that learning continues throughout life. I believe we will understand the full value of what we gained as we put it into practice. The duration and content were ideal, and I sincerely thank our facilitators. Hüseyin’s way of being had an even greater impact than his words.

“It would be unfair to begin by saying what the Holistic Leadership Program did only for me. It contributed both to me and to the people around me. I attended the program, yet dozens of others benefited. It activated every dormant area of my thinking. Where there is movement, there is abundance. Thank you so much for bringing abundance into my life.”

Mustafa Ağca

Learning is not simply acquiring information; it is the birth of a process that creates awareness in your life. The dedication of the Eflatun team enabled me to truly learn. Their use of learning as a path toward their own goals and values made their enthusiasm contagious.

A program delivered with the rare ability to unite a group of fifteen while simultaneously holding up a mirror to every individual.

Every module, topic, and detail felt like a drop distilled from a vast body of knowledge. The program goes deeply into detail without ever losing sight of the big picture. It constantly invites reflection, and you can feel long-set assumptions beginning to shift.

Thank you for this wonderful experience—though it left me wanting more. How many days would be needed to benefit fully from such a rich body of knowledge is another question entirely. The program exceeded its purpose by far.

Özgür Güçer

Dear friends—if I may take the liberty of addressing you so warmly 🙂,

You are all warmly invited to my new home. My endless thanks to “Eflatun Construction” and its master builders Hüseyin, Özlem, and Aykut for giving our family a new home—one without walls and impossible to measure in square metres.

Behavioural and personal-development training had always seemed dry and utopian to me. The short-lived feeling of returning to work ready to save the world after every course had repeatedly put me off. Yet from the first day, I sensed that long-held assumptions would be challenged and that this time would be different. What I expected to attend reluctantly became a program I approached with excitement and curiosity every day. Our wonderful facilitators—and, of course, our fellow participants—made that possible. I thank the facilitators for creating value that will serve us not only at work but in all our human relationships, and I wish everyone lasting happiness in their professional and social lives.
